Jannarelly Automotive Launches UK Special Edition Design-1
Dubai-based Jannarelly Automotive is celebrating its arrival in the UK market with five UK-dedicated special edition examples of its Design-1 sports car.
All five of the Design-1 special editions – available in Coupe rather than the original ‘Le Mans barquette’ configuration – feature a Union Jack design across their carbon fibre bonnets and the side blades. In a nod to “vintage British racers”, each model also features a white front grille surround and will be available in red, white, blue, grey or green. Though quite how the latter two are “capturing the spirit of British automotive design” remains a mystery…
And… well, that’s pretty much it. Mechanically, the UK Special Edition models remain unchanged, with a Nissan-sourced, naturally-aspirated 3.5-litre V6 continuing to send 325hp and 371Nm (273lb ft) of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. No doubt the temptation to add a full china tea set and a box of loose leaves to the UK Special Edition was enormous, this would also have knackered the fantastically low 850kg kerb weight, do-able thanks to a lightweight tubular spaceframe chassis. That, by the way, results in a peppy 382hp/ton power-to-weight ratio – akin to a rear-wheel drive Lamborghini Huracán – and a 3.9-second 0-100kph sprint time en-route to a 220kph top speed.
Built at the brand’s main facility in Dubai, the Jannarelly UK Special Edition Design-1 will set you back £115,549 (around $150,200), compared with £85,000 ($110,500-ish) for the standard barquette.
