Just Because: Remembering Porsche’s Ultimate Front-Engined Sports Car
Photos by Richard Warburton
The Porsche 968 Club Sport isn’t a performance car you often see. It’s essentially the most driver-focused version of the company’s near-classic front engine, rear-drive lineup, and through a limited production run it won fans around the world for its balance and speed.
Think of it as a front-engine, 4-cylinder-powered “GT3 RS”, and you wouldn’t be too far off. The two-seat trackday-focused special dropped 220 lbs from the standard 968, along with a host of structural, mechanical, and aesthetic improvements. There were a few hotter turbocharged variants from Porsche, but those are unicorn-grade curiosities and were never entered into series production.
Photographer Richard Warburton doesn’t normally shoot cars, but his assortment of crisp and engaging Club Sport photos pretty much instantly sent us searching for the nearest 968. What do you think of these Club Sport variants?
