Lotus has kept details about its upcoming Type 130 hypercar largely under wraps. All we know so far is that it will be fully electric, production will be limited to 130 units and the power output is expected to be around 1000hp. It is also the first all-new model from Lotus in over a decade and therefore also the first under Chinese owners Geely. No pressure then, but with Lotus’ engineering expertise and Geely’s financial backing, the newly named Evija (read: ev-eye-a) hypercar has all the ingredients necessary to make it a big success.

Evija means ‘first in existence’ and this car will definitely be the start of a new chapter at Lotus. CEO Phil Popham said, “Evija is the perfect name for our new car because it’s the first hypercar from Lotus, our first electric offering and is the first new model under the stewardship of Geely. The Evija is a Lotus like no other, yet a true Lotus in every sense. It will re-establish our brand on the global automotive stage and pave the way for further visionary models.”

There will be a light show experience at the Lotus stand which will reveal new design details to fans ahead of the full reveal in London later this month. Along with the sneak glimpses of the Evija the recently unveiled Lotus Evora GT4 Concept race car (above) and a selection of Lotus’ current range of road cars will be making their way up the Goodwood Hillclimb course. One very special car also in attendance will be Jim Clark’s Type 25/R6 Formula One race car, which set the fastest ever lap record of the Goodwood circuit of 1:20.4 back in 1965 and thanks to changes to the track’s layout, will forever remain unchallenged.
