McLaren Special Operations has created some stunning bespoke designs over the years. Offering customers and retailers the opportunity to commission personalized vehicles has proven to be an important part of McLaren’s business model and the latest to come from this division is the ‘Pikes Peak Collection’. Revealed at a special event this week for Colorado retailer McLaren Denver, these six 600LT Spiders have been created to celebrate the most extreme hillclimb in the world, the fearsome Pikes Peak.

The six cars each feature unique MSO paintwork─ Black Gold, White Gold, Nerello Red, Volcano Red, Aurora Blue and Midas Grey─finished off with gold and matte black vinyl striping across the hood and roof and a set of Satin Gold Speedline wheels. “It’s really special for us to be able to offer a car like the 600LT Spider, which is already quite special itself with its Longtail heritage, and tie it into Pikes Peak, a race that is so significant to Colorado residents, as well as the racing community globally,” said Mike Ward, owner of McLaren Denver. “Six very lucky customers will be the proud owners of these amazing McLaren 600LT Spiders, and we can’t wait to see them on the road and on the track in Colorado.”

The 600LT Spider is the fifth McLaren to have the Longtail (LT) designation and it follows in its predecessors’ tire tracks by focusing on reduced weight, increased power and a track focus. Despite having a folding hardtop, the 600hp 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 600LT Spider matches its coupe sibling in acceleration times, reaching 60mph in 2.8-seconds, and is just as eager to come to a stop thanks to the latest generation carbon-ceramic brakes and McLaren Senna-inspired brake booster. A set of bespoke Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires and an advanced suspension set-up that borrows components from the Super Series 720S give it the handling befitting the most performance-focused offering in McLaren’s Sports Series range.
