The seller of the Land Cruiser you see here states that it’s a “survivor that hasn’t been abused.” In fact, this forty-one-year-old rig has been cared for by its previous owner and, courtesy of the present titleholder, a Toyota dealership. The former personally rebuilt this truck’s 2F engine, which came from a 1985 FJ60, in 2012. Before its rejuvenation it had around 100,000 miles. Now, it has fewer than 10,000, as well as a “newer electronic ignition, starter and alternator.” The man also rebuilt the front suspension and drive shafts, and added such parts as a new exhaust system, the H41 four-speed gearbox from a later-model FJ40, and fresh drum brakes.
After a $4,000+ investment from its current owner, this Sky Blue adventure vehicle features a fully documented laundry list of new parts from a Toyota dealer, including 5 Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S tires, radiator and coolant hoses, charcoal canister, Warn manual hubs, fuel pump and filter, and vacuum hoses. The service department replaced the rear pinion seal, repacked the front bearings, and rebuilt and resealed the front axles and trunnions.
Inside, there are re-upholstered front seats and new door seals. Every light works and all but one of the gauges (oil pressure) function. The original pair of heaters has survived as long as this boxy billy goat, although the back unit is not connected.
