The Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, California has just announced a new exhibit, which will feature over 40 vehicles representing a broad range of popular movies and video games over the years. Opening May 4, 2019 in the Mullin Family Grand Salon, “Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy” will be produced in collaboration with the Comic-Con Museum. Notable exhibits will include the Warthog from the Halo video game, the 2035 Audi RSQ from I Robot, the DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future, the GM Ultralight from Demolition Man and Bumblebee from the Transformers series.
In addition, there will be a selection of costumes, props and concept art on display. “Hollywood Dream Machines will be the biggest exhibit of our 25th anniversary,” said Petersen Automotive Museum executive director Terry L. Karges. “With more than 40 vehicles from the silver screen spread across the museum, the exhibit is an ode to the industry that Los Angeles was built upon. We can’t wait to explore the fantasy and fictional concepts behind these extraordinary vehicles with the world.”
To further immerse visitors in this magical world of make-believe, there will be a Microsoft HoloLens experience called Worlds Reimagined, which will bring the Warthog from Halo and the Back to the Future time machine to virtual life. Hollywood Dream Machines will run through March 15, 2020, and those interested in attending can visit the Petersen Automotive Museum website. Tickets for the opening reception, which will take place on the evening of May 4 and will include a live band, can be purchased online.
