Motorsport fans, rejoice: the second season of the Netflix series Drive To Survive has been announced to start on February 28.

If you don’t know, the first installment of Drive To Survive was an unprecedented look at Formula 1, focusing on the 2018 racing season. It wasn’t just about race results or car performance; we saw the politics and personal sniping that goes on behind the curtain of this secretive racing series. Akin to a high-performance soap opera (forgive us!), the 10-part series focused on an owner change at Force India, personal driver rivalries and conflicts, team principals at their wits’ end with their drivers, and Haas’ own Gunther Steiner swearing. A. F***ing. Lot!

This year should be even better. Both Ferrari and Mercedes, which declined to be part of the first act, will now be featured in the new series, which will focus on the 2019 F1 season that saw Lewis Hamilton win his sixth world title with Mercedes AMG Petronas. Apart from the cat calls and team in-fighting, expect some poignant sadness with the passing of Mercedes team partner and three-time world champion Niki Lauda, and the effects this had not across the paddock.

Not just that, but there were some very controversial race finishes (the Canadian Grand Prix, for example), so expect some extraordinary and previously unseen reactions of key players behind the scenes.
