The Quail at Monterey Shows Motorsport Knows No Age

The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering was without doubt one of the most prestigious events that took place over the weekend of automotive splendor in Monterey, California.  The event, which takes place on the Quail golf course, has been held for 11 years now and many consider it the cream of the crop of automotive events. This year, Lamborghini and Aston Martin celebrated milestone anniversaries by showing fabulous concept cars and vintage racing machines; however, every major racing constructor was also well-represented at this year’s event.

As I walked from the parking lot into the event, I began to wonder why half the cars in the lot weren’t being shown in the exhibition. However, after entering, I understood that this was where the best of the best belonged. The event offered guests a buffet of food paired with fine wine and champagne. Representatives from Porsche offered rides in some of their newest automobiles. I spent an enjoyable afternoon in the sunshine as the multitude of colors beamed from the chassis of priceless automobiles. Although the 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (featured in the photos below) was declared best in show, in my opinion the tasty quinoa at the buffet should have taken the crown.

I’d recommend putting this event on your automotive bucket list if you haven’t already. Just make sure you’re prepared to handle the sensory overload.
