This Stunning Alfa Romeo 8C Just Won Best In Show At Chantilly

How do you win a major international concours? For American collector John Shirley, taking top honors at the recent Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille meant entering his beloved 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B for judging…and hoping the car was just perfect enough to win over its stiff competition.

This particular Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B has been awarded a concours victory before, including receiving top honors at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Of course, being one of the fastest sports cars in the world, the car had history before being shown at these events—including winning the first race at Watkins Glen in 1948 while wearing #35.

Chantilly is all about honoring the best of style and design, so each of the modern concepts for judging were paired with a statuesque model and dress that matched the car. We’re glad the DS’ metallic green hue stayed on the machine…

Oh , heck they are all beautiful and outstanding cars at this level.
Are they worthy of all the praise and love ?
Not to sure about that, IMHO give me the garage restorer who drives his classic to work occasionally and true enjoys the vehicle , not the fact that his check book is so large he can do the CONCOUR thing.
