UPCOMING EVENTS: Ferrari’s 70th Birthday Exhibits In New York City

The legend of the marque and the man who gave it his name have been celebrated throughout 2017 on race tracks, concours lawns, and in museum galleries on an international scale, and this weekend will add another to the list. “Added to the list” doesn’t do it justice though. This is Ferrari’s capstone event to their year of deserved revelry, and it’s all happening in New York City, on Manhattan. The event spans two days, and includes a collection of thematic exhibits at different locations on the island, like Rockefeller Plaza for instance.
It’s a public event, and there are prizes involved for participation, as if seeing cars like a 250 GT Tour de France and a 166 MM among skyscrapers isn’t enough of a reason to attend. The way it works involves making your way to the different locations, taking in the curated displays, and then posting about it on social media using the hashtag #Ferrari70NYC. Checking into more places and posting more content increases your odds of winning one of 70 Ferrari experiences, which include drives in modern Ferrari supercars to spending a weekend with the works racing team, Scuderia Ferrari. It’s like a raffle that’s actually enjoyable to enter, let alone win.
Locations and their displays are assembled thematically; there is a one-model-per-decade display in Rockefeller Plaza, an exhibition of iconic racing models at the Hublot store, a tour through front-engine V12s at the Ferrari New York showroom, and a range of significant cars from all points in the brand’s history at Sotheby’s on 71st Street.
