Just Because: 6 Photos Of A Stunning 911 Carrera 3.2

Photography by Bob de Graffenried

The Porsche 911 hasn’t worn a “new” shape since 1963, which makes these photos even more noteworthy: how, exactly, was Swiss photographer Bob de Graffenried able to bring out the best of his white 1984 911 Carrera 3.2?

Rarely flattering, white is often a bit of a pain when trying to get the right “look” for a car. If you have a white car at home, study these photos…

Like Bob’s incredibly pure 911? Be sure to check out his website.

Little GS is an Internet troll, I laid a little bait for him on the Alfa Giulia Nurburgring lap time story and he swallowed it and ran. Have a read it’s quite funny.

If the moderators of this site have managed to kick him off (again) then I’m sure it’ll only be temporary, he loves this attention. The little turd feeds off it. So I would suggest to either ignore him (but that’s boring) or we collectively bait him and call him out. Have some fun with him, get him a froth. Read some of the stuff he writes it’s hilarious. He’s copy/pasting whole sections out of other websites and presenting them as his own thoughts. I cannot believe anyone actually talks like him,(except maybe Donald Trump. Hang on, maybe DT is our troll! That’d be pretty cool!).

So please, fellas, don’t leave the site, don’t let a dried up withered, lonely old fart ruin your passion for old interesting cars.

GS often spoils every posting and although I have no idea who he is, I don’t welcome him or his opinions to this fantastic web site. I’m sure he just loves to the be centre of attention and I’m sure his head swells seeing these comments about himself. When I see a GS posting, I simply move on the the next as his words mean nothing and I’m here supporting my fellow Petrolicious fans that have positive things to say about others works and their articles. Bye Bye GS.

I really used to enjoy the Petrolicious website and in particular the awesome and tasteful videos and for all the diversified cars, garages and gear in short but informative and inspirational articles. Some seriously good work by the Petrolicious team! Add to this some good comments and personal experiences from users all around the world.
That is until GS infested each and every feature with his load of ego centered “I’ve tried it all and know it all” patronising essays. It is bordering being nauseating and normally stop me from scrolling further down than the articles. Sad but true. Today was an exception and reading the other comments here thought I’d give my support to those who feel the same about GS. A site and forum is in many ways defined by it’s users -but this appears to be the exception.

Hate to grump out on this one but I’m not overly impressed with either the photography or the car . Don’t get me wrong both are nice , good and decent enough but relatively common place in the overall scheme of things … so neither is what I’d deem as being noteworthy or stunning … unless of course one is resorting to the revisionist definition of … ‘ stunning ‘ .. wink wink ..

PS; Having had a career as a semi professional photographer myself in fact I’ve found white cars nine times out of ten to be the easiest color cars to photograph . Black is the bear . Red more often than not [ when using color film ] often washes out into odd hues … Blue depending on the shade can be a pain .. yellow depending on the car an background is either stunning or horrid etc … but white ? White is a walk in the park regardless of the light , background , context etc .

GS – Your comment is longer than the article.

…. a fact that should in fact disturb you . Not that my comment is longer mind you … but rather that the article …. intended for the ADD Dyslexic Hummingbirds amongst us as it is … is shorter . Content being a bit thin on the ground these days when it comes to what passes for an ‘ article ‘ in the current Entertainment trumps Content zeitgeist we’re in . Huxley [ and David Foster Wallace ] proving to be more accurate today than either could of imagined back in their day

Then I ask you GS why do you bother to come to this website? The photographs on this website are poor. The writing is weak. The videos are all the same. Why? Why do you bother to view this loser website? Start your own. You have been a semi-pro photographer, you’ve been a member of every car club. You pretty much know it all. The rest of us are losers. Go on, I dare you to start your own website! Let’s see who shows up.
Man you have made this website a miserable place to come to. I hope you are proud of yourself and all your negative comments. I hope you find happiness in this life.

BTW GS, this website has given you a very wide birth to say what you want. However your put downs on the website and those of us that appear too stupid to see your great wisdom on all things has led me to exercise my freedom of speech. Or lack there of. I’ve enjoyed this site however I cannot tolerate your negative thoughts any longer. Be well GS you’ve won. I’m gone from here. Goodbye Petro it was fun. Was fun. Past tense.

Is that you, Guitar Slinger, aka Martin James, TJ Martin, Colorado Kid, et al? I’ve missed you over at Pipeburn and Bike EXIF. I guess you had to land somewhere. Seriously, how can one be a semi-professional anything? Bob de Graffenried did a superb job of capturing the mood and spirit of the subject and landscape in an artful and evocative way. I’ve been an avid ‘amateur’ photog ever since I got my first 35mm camera at the age of 13. I can appreciate Mr. de Graffenried technique and obvious dedication to his craft. To slight the work of an artist is boorish and just plain bad manners. In many philosophies and faiths it is said that it is impossible for man to tame his tongue. In the words of my grandmother – if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. Sois sage!
