Hopefully, we can expect to see more examples of period-personalized excess spiffed up and catalogued in high-resolution over the next few years, and examples like this Strosek-modified Speedster are exciting to see on the open market.
On January 28, Bonhams will be auctioning this 1993 Porsche 911 Strosek Mega Speedster without reserve, which means the winning bidder should have this most perfect Valentine’s Day gift for in the garage by February 14—so long as your date’s no shrinking violet.
What more could one want in a 1993 Porsche 911 Speedster? Fewer than 1,000 are believed to have been made by Porsche that year, with this example being treated to a full set of modifications by Vittorio Strosek and delivered new to Florida. Porsche tuners tend to cherry pick the best parts available, and this example is no different. What’s not upgraded Porsche was new, from its Strosek suspension set-up to 17-inch OZ racing wheels.
Fitted with wider bodywork, slantnose-style poly-ellipsoid headlights, custom mirrors, and a Maritime Blue color scheme that extended inside to the reworked interior, the car isn’t exactly subtle—a point reinforced, as Bonhams says, by the discrete fitment of “a K40 radar detector”.
With few modifications since its Strosek transformation and just 5,800 miles, it should be the perfect car for an enthusiast who’s a bit more outgoing and won’t shy away from the attention this car will no doubt attract.
