Yes, like the AMG-tuned Mercedes-Benz we profiled recently, it’s another tuner car to hit the auction block. Hopefully, we can expect to see more examples of period-personalized excess spiffed up and catalogued in high-resolution over the next few years, and examples like this Strosek-modified Speedster are exciting to see on the open market.

On January 28, Bonhams will be auctioning this 1993 Porsche 911 Strosek Mega Speedster without reserve, which means the winning bidder should have this most perfect Valentine’s Day gift for in the garage by February 14—so long as your date’s no shrinking violet.

What more could one want in a 1993 Porsche 911 Speedster? Fewer than 1,000 are believed to have been made by Porsche that year, with this example being treated to a full set of modifications by Vittorio Strosek and delivered new to Florida. Porsche tuners tend to cherry pick the best parts available, and this example is no different. What’s not upgraded Porsche was new, from its Strosek suspension set-up to 17-inch OZ racing wheels.

Fitted with wider bodywork, slantnose-style poly-ellipsoid headlights, custom mirrors, and a Maritime Blue color scheme that extended inside to the reworked interior, the car isn’t exactly subtle—a point reinforced, as Bonhams says, by the discrete fitment of “a K40 radar detector”.

With few modifications since its Strosek transformation and just 5,800 miles, it should be the perfect car for an enthusiast who’s a bit more outgoing and won’t shy away from the attention this car will no doubt attract.

Man…the amount it would cost to restore this monstrosity to its original beautiful looks…….

Ugly, no doubt about it….

And with a price tag like that, I´m sure it will only appeal to some flashy guy … (just for the sake of being different, not fast…)

Cheers from Portugal

Mounting the plate askew is an interesting mod. Is that just for the photo shoot? Must be why they are asking so much. A true one-off. 😉

What a shame to do that to a nice 911!

The 911 Speedster, the Buckel or Buclige of 911’s, now, this one is a step further, a real Quasimodo. I definitely agree with GS on the merits of this specimen(?).

1) Its a Strokek … and while Strosek both with their Audi and Porsche make overs aren’t bad ….. they’re far from being the cream of the crop either … Now if this were a Ruf ……. ehhh … except Ruf is tasteful about their mods … so err …. never mind
2) Its all cosmetic with little engineering [ suspension ] and zero performance upgrades … which means a well maintained 911 of this era will have you for lunch … because all those cosmetics add weight … not to mention drag , rolling resistance etc
3) This .. being OTT as it is … not to mention Strosek’s lack of street cred etc … would be an even harder sale down the road than it’ll be today
4) Toss in the fact its hardly been driven [ 911’s NEED to be driven [ and …

………. to put it bluntly …. I wouldn’t pay a dime over what a well maintained nicely updated stock 911 of the same vintage is worth . Fact is I’d be hard pressed to pay that much seeing as how in my opinion this thing is worth less …. not more than stock

So $180K ??? Take a zero off the end and try more like …

$18,000 … tops ……….. maybe …
