Hot on the taillights of the Ford v. Ferrari film, Ford has announced a new ‘Heritage Edition Package’ for the GT350 and GT350R to celebrates its history with Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles. Though don’t expect any added horsepower or performance.
Miles drove the first GT350, developed with Shelby, in anger in 1965, and to celebrate that milestone, the Detroit automaker is offering a special paint-and-interior package for its hot Mustangs. The exterior is clad in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue side and over-the-top racing stripes, just like the original, with special blue badging. Inside, the black seats get red stitching, along with another blue dashboard badge. And, that’s about it for the special package, which adds an extra $2,000 to the base prices of $60,440 for the GT350 and $73,435 for the GT350R.
It’s easy to be cynical about what looks like a cash grab from Ford, but the paint scheme really is retro cool, and that always adds extra horsepower, right? Plus, the GT350 duo already offers amazing performance for the money, with a flat-plane-crank screamer of a V8 and recent revisions that add to its track capabilities, such as revised steering geometry, better brakes and tuned MagneRide suspension.
