It takes a significant amount of élan–energy and enthusiasm–to refresh a classic automobile. Apparently, this 1968 Lotus has inspired a great deal of it.

This 49,000-mile Plus 2 specimen was recommissioned after being stored for a lengthy stretch of time. In 2006, it was repainted in its factory shade of yellow. It now has a refurbished vinyl cover for its sunroof, as well as a “new … roof lining just fitted with material similar to original.” The “brakes, callipers, discs, steering rack, and bushes [have been] replaced.”

Under the hood, this four-seater has a rebuilt engine (connected to a reconstructed transmission), a refurbished head and clean Weber carburetors. The radiator and clutch are new pieces of hardware. However, some components, such as the interior, chrome, and chassis have survived since ’68.

I pass this Lotus every day while walking my dog. I don’t think there’s a nicer example around. Fantastic car! I’ll miss it when it leaves the neighbourhood.

Not necessarily. This is at the top end of the cars for sale, so there is still hope.
