Owners of classic Porsches already have a pretty decent soundtrack coming from the car’s engine compartment. But if you occasionally want to hear the latest music through your speakers, Porsche has the way to bring your car into the 21st century with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And it’s a very stylish method.

The German company is offering its Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) – which is a fancy way to say digital radio – in the 1 DIN and 2 DIN size formats that seamlessly fit into the existing radio spaces. It’s an upgrade from the replacement units Porsche Classic already offers, which have navigation and other features.

The 1 DIN unit is for any 911 from the earliest cars from the 1960s up to the 993 generation, the last of the air-cooled cars that debuted in the early 1990s. This PCCM features a 3.5-inch display nestled between traditional rotary knobs and period-correct Porsche logos, but it features Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SD card, USB and AUX, along with navigation. The unit can also fit other Porsche front- and mid-engine cars that take the 1 DIN size.

The 2 DIN unit, or PCCM Plus, is made for 911 models of the 996 gen and 986 Boxster models built in the 1990s. This larger system has a 7-inch touchscreen, but the overall look of the unit again matches the interior of these cars, making it seem like it was original equipment. The PCCM Plus offers all the features of the smaller unit but adds Android Auto, as well as 2D and 3D navigation. And if you had the navigation feature on the instrument cluster, that continues to operate as normal.

These units are only offered in Europe at the moment, but expect to see them in North America soon. The prices of €1,439.89 ($1,556 USD) for the PCCM or €1,606.51 ($1,736 USD) for the PCCM Plus aren’t exactly cheap, but the combination of modern features and timeless looks may be worth the money.

I recommend that you read the best roof top tent reviews before purchasing. Luckily this product turned out to be perfect for me. The main plus is the fastening system and high-quality materials. This is one of my best purchases in the last year.

As long as the screen can turn off yet still be active to play tunes would be great.
