Automobili Pininfarina is to launch the inaugural edition of its Pininfarina Legends’ Drive, to take place annually at California’s Monterey Car Week. It will feature some of the greatest Pininfarina-designed cars, which will include the new Battista electric hypercar. This will be the first time the Battista will have been seen on the move and the first time this latest, reworked version of the Battista design will have been seen in North America.
Classics on the inaugural Pininfarina Legends’ Drive are expected to include Ferrari Enzo, F40, F50, and 458 Speciale as well as Lancia 037 and many others. The cars will leave the Pininfarina house in the Del Monte Forest around 1.30pm on Thursday 15 August and head out on a 50-mile drive, returning to the house around 4pm. The Battista, still a prototype, will join the drive halfway round.
The Battista has recently undergone a series of design enhancements following wind tunnel tests, revealed at the Turin motor show earlier this year but not yet seen in North America; Monterey Car Week will be the first chance to see the revised car in the USA. The design changes contribute to an increased range target of over 300 miles (450km) on a single charge. Just 50 Battistas are estimated to be available in Europe, 50 in North America and 50 in the Middle East and Asia markets from late 2020, priced at €2m each.
