The Tour d’Elegance Is The World’s Most Extravagant Road Trip

For those of you who are obsessed with cars and living in smaller towns and more remote areas—where there aren’t very many exciting ones—this gallery from the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance may be overwhelming. Beautiful scenery, roads, people, and cars, with participants exercising their four-wheeled obsessions as onlookers are thrown into fits of whiplash. Here’s what this year’s event looked like.

Averaging roughly 30 mph, and rerouted this year due to nearby forest fires, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance entrants are encouraged to participate in the Tour, with Concours judges awarding extra merit to the cars that show and drive well. Photographer Tim Scott was on hand to capture just some of the action, as former Petrolicious stars and some of the most desirable vehicles on the planet drove the 37-mile route.

I’d be ridiculous to name every single car here, but I’m definitely delighted that a very tiny BMW Isetta police car was able to get out for a drive. What’s your pick of the Tour?

Beautiful setting and a great event.
From this set of photos, the BMW 507 is a beauty and it’s hard not to admire the muscular good looks of a Bizzarrini Strada anywhere.

Watched the Tour as it went through Carmel by the Sea. Hard to pick a stand out car although the preservation class Bugatti Type 40 was pretty memorable. Always love the shape of the Ferrari 400 Superamerica too.

Great pictures, great cars….. sure wish there were captions. Year make and model would be good. I am not a full blown car enthusiast so I was only able to identify a few of the cars, I’d sure like to know what the others were.
