What Do You Think Of The New Top Gear Trailer?

There was a Top Gear that ran before Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond, and there will be a Top Gear that runs after the well-loved trio’s time at the helm is done. There have been rumors, leaks, scuttlebutt, and enough internet conversation to be, like, trending, but the reborn show is relaunching this May. In only a few weeks.

Chris Evans, Matthew LeBlanc, Sabine Schmitz, Chris Harris, Eddie Jordan, and Rory Reid will take over hosting duties, and although this 60-second trailer is far too short to gain an impression of what on-camera chemistry will be like between the main players, it does feature an Aston Martin Vulcan doing doughnuts at the Yas Marina Circuit, at night.

Whatever the new Top Gear ends up being, the first 60 seconds look mighty entertaining.

Ditto on the thoughts of the original show, will always be tops. At least they aren’t throwing Adam Carrolla in there….OMG that was horrible. I just hope they have good cars and interesting episodes.

However, I could see Patrick Dempsey more than Matt LeBlanc. At least Dempsey knows how to drive. LeBlanc shows up at an F1 race and BANG! he gets a car show.

I’m sure this new TG will never be the same as the old but who cares! The original trio are making their own new show anyways so there’s nothing to worry about. I just hope that since they have been contracted by Amazon that they’ll come around to Seattle and maybe film a piece here. I would pay to be in that television audience!

Nope

Sound promising to me. With Schmitz and Harris, driving skills are clearly rising.
I just hope that the New show will not be too much of everything for the sake of it. It was the magic with the previous trio, the too much was always right (well, almost…)

I agree with the other chaps on here that the original TG is always going to be a tough act to follow but, with this very much in mind and the budget they have, I have faith that this will still be a great show. Different, sure, but still great.

Maybe the Fifth Gear syndrome. I mean, Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond and May (and Wilman) grew organically into what it became, while the Fifth Gear just never managed to grow, it was what it was from the beginning and it was always the same. It’s not that the presenters aren’t good, I think they could be as good as former TG presenters, it’s just there was never any real organic chemistry, like, maybe they don’t grab drinks together often enough or something. I hope the new TG won’t be like that, but I’m afraid that it’s going to be,… Read more »

Chris Harris is the Real Deal. The rest are good also. This is a good crew

BBC definitely have the budget and as this show was the cash cow I can see they will invest heavily to help it work. This crew will have a tough time getting out of the shadow of the previous trio. I fear the cast were chosen by a committee that consulted only spreadsheets of “likeness” ratios or some made up bunk like that. With a talented driver like Sabine, the Stig seems less relative. I’ll give it a shot and I wish them the best but that’s a big hurdle to cross.

More or less like the American version of TG – well shot and everything but soulless.

It looks garbage to me I’m afraid. If I want to see idiots in ludicrously expensive cars I have YouTube for that.

The old crew are always going to be a tough act to follow. The chemistry they had on screen made the show what it was. Only time will tell with this new group of presenters if they can generate and sustain any sort of audience connection. Needless to say the camerawork is still fabulous in the promo.

A hard act to follow. So we should wait and see and let it stand or fall on its own two feet. Foolish to judge something we haven’t seen. Sure there will never be anything like the old show, but who knows what might emerge from the old carcass.

Same thing I think about the new TG presenters . As little as possible . To keep it short .. the previous stars were all [ with the exception of Hammond ] serious automotive journalists capable of acting the fool for the sake of entertainment . Whereas the new bunch [ with the sole exception of Sabine Schmitz ] .. are a bunch of fools pretending to in any way shape or form be serious automotive Gear/PetrolHeads .. never mind journalists . Suffice it to say .. the ‘ new ‘ Top Gear won’t be finding its way onto my… Read more »

… and as for Sabine Schmitz’s participation .. how the once serious and trustworthy have fallen for the temptation of thirty pieces of silver along with that ubiquitous fifteen minutes of fame . Sad … truly sad ………. sigh ..

Sabine Schmidt has been hosting a German car show since 2006, it hardly seems like she is trying to get “fifteen minutes of fame”

It seems to me that you have a very closed mind. You have not seen it yet but still you make a judgement , just like your diatribe on the Fiat Coupe .

Then it seems you have formed an opinion without knowing much about any of them. Chris Harris not a serious petrolhead? Nonsense. Chris Evans? Yes he’s a fool but it’s well know how serious a petrol head he is. You’re either talking utter nonsense, just like your crap about the Fiat Coupe, trolling, or this is an April Fool’s joke.

Excuse-me but if you think Chris Harris isn’t a petrolhead, go take a look at his Youtube channel, that guy have drifted the most respected supercars as easy as you walk…

Looks good i’ll certainly give it a go… but then I was always going to. Although as a enthusiast i’m sad that its not going to revert back to the old format, but i understand why they haven’t.
