We’ve partnered with our friends at the Audrain’s Newport Concours & Motor Week on a few of their marquee events during the week to give away our newly introduced Petrolicious Best Story Award. Unlike most ‘Best of’ trophies at Concours, our Best Story Awards criteria aren’t necessarily about the best concours restoration but more about the people behind the cars, just like our films. These are the people that drive them, race them, and cherish them.

If you haven’t visited Audrain’s Motor Week, it’s a bit like an East Coast Monterey Car Week, similarly based in a coastal town, with an abundance of unique car events tailored to different groups of enthusiasts. However, from lawn parties and concerts, to the traditional Concours d’Elegance, Audrain ups the ante by hosting events among Newport’s plethora of historic mansion properties, which provide beautiful scenic backdrops throughout the week . You can take a look at the schedule and various tickets here.

Here’s a list of the events Petrolicious will be checking out:

The Gathering – Friday, October 4th

Juxtaposed against the scenic Rough Point, former residence of Doris Duke, there will be an eclectic mix of over 70 cars ranging from Emory Outlaws to the new Koenigsegg Jesko. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jay Leno, Donald Osborne, or Emily Ratajowski, The Gathering is an exclusive lawn party with some incredibly curated cuisine from world-renown chefs and five-star restaurants.

Cars & Coffee – Saturday, October 5th

Audrain’s will be hosting a Cars & Coffee at Fort Adams, and we will be judging 3 cars to giveaway the ‘Petrolicious Best Story’ Award. What do they win? A Petrolicious Founding Membership including the badge and pin handmade by OMEA. It’s not only provenance that matters, we’re looking for cars with personal stories. The event will coincide with a children’s Pedal Car Race by HAGERTY that should showcase some thrilling wheel-to-wheel action. The cars from the Concours’ Tour d’Elegance will also make a pit stop at C&C, making it an excellent opportunity to check out both groups of vehicles.

If you’re interested in showing your car and being considered for the award, please first register with Audrain, then submit your story here.

Concours d’Elegance – Sunday, October 6th

The premiere event of the week is the Audrain’s Concours d’Elegance celebrating themes of Heritage, Luxury, and Sport. The field of show cars will undergo the utmost scrutiny and compete for awards presented by Donald Osborne and Jay Leno.

While the judges are busy doing their look-overs, we’ll also be busy judging show cars for the Petrolicious Best Story Award. Our winner for the Concours will not only receive a Petrolicious Founding Members kit, but also a handmade, 1 of 1 Lamborghini Miura sculpture finished in Petrolicious Red by artist Stéphane Dufour, whose work you’ve seen featured previously on Petrolicious.

We’re incredibly excited to be in attendance this year and eager to hear all the great stories in contention for the Petrolicious Best Story Award! Not able to make it out this year? You can follow along with the coverage on our Instagram and by using the hashtag #ACMW2019.
