5 Instagrammers Worth Following: December 22nd Edition

If you find yourself spending alittle too much time with your loved ones this coming weekend, looking at neat cars on Instagram might be the best balm for the boredom. If anyone asks why you're scrolling away on your phone below the table, tell them you're day-trading Bitcoin and proceed to explain how "the future is now." They'll probably leave you alone then.

Here are our picks of pics for this week's edition of 5 Instagrammers Worth Following:





Darin Schnabel is an automotive photographer for RM Sotheby's. This means two things: he's talented, and he gets to shoot some of the most desirable cars in the world, all over the world. You can always tell when somebody is a car enthusiast first and a photographer second (using the same angles over and over again seems to be the biggest tell), but it's harder to say in Darin's case. His frames range from clinical studio stuff to the kinds of images you'd expect to see in an NYC street photographer's portfolio, but most of it is simply a combination of pretty car, pretty scenery, AKA exactly what this list is after.



Will Fitzmaurice uses his camera to capture a vintage tone without resorting to an overt mess of post-processing. Everything in here is sharp and clean, faithful to real life. He is definitely honing a certain style though—his portfolio is one of consistency in that sense, you can link each picture to any of the others—and if I had to describe it briefly I'd call it "warm nostalgia." It doesn't hurt that he shoots a lot of little Alfas and Austins. Most of his work is done at events it seems, and while I would love to see some staged shoots too, he captures the angles and candid moments that separate one set of "factual" photos from a set that sparks some real feeling.





If you aren't already following the Mercedes-Benz Museum on Instagram, you're missing out on these old-school Stuttgart superheroes. Featuring a mix of original M-B advertising alongside the newer promotional materials (all still featuring vintage Mercs, don't worry about finding a GLA or something in here), there are also a few owner-submitted photos thrown into the pot, which all works to create a page that is a general celebration of all things classic Mercedes.



The name that Jarrod's given his account, Throttle by Cable, is an appropriate one for the style of photography presented here. Even when he's shooting digitally, the end product takes on an analog feel. Mixing film cameras with digital ones, black and white portraits with in-color landscapes, cars with the lives we lead around them, it's just plain pleasant to scroll through this page. Also, it should be noted that if you're a fan of period Land Rover and other vintage 4x4 advertisements, Jarrod collects them and often shares some of his favorites.



Since nobody has kicked and screamed loud enough to turn this fifth spot back into a strictly auto-based page, this week we have Andrew Knapp. Or more accurately, it's Andrew Knapp's photography of his dog Momo. For dog lovers, outdoorsy types, and fans of high-quality travel photography, this is your stop.
