It was built in just six weeks by Rene Hoffmeister, one of only 12 officially-certified LEGO modelmakers in the world (yes, really), and colleague Pascal Lenhard. The pair had produced a construction plan in advance using 3D imaging, and had calculated the rigidity of the side walls and windows needed to ensure lasting stability, and the precise number of bricks required. It was going well until they suddenly found they were missing 20,000 transparent bricks for the T2's windows. They were forced to work from morning to night and over the weekends in order to complete it in time for its unveiling at the f.re.e leisure and travel fair in Munich, Germany, which runs from February 20 to 24.
