Aston Martin’s DBZ Centenary Collection Celebrates Zagato Design House In Unprecedented Style

The famous Zagato design house is celebrating its centenary this year, and what better way to mark the occasion than with the DBZ Centenary Collection, a duo of supercars bookending the firm’s association with Aston Martin. The images you see here of what seems like a futuristic concept car are actually the first renders of the DBS GT Zagato, a vehicle that has been jointly created by Aston Martin and Zagato designers using the range-topping 715hp V12 DBS Superleggera as a starting point. This creative partnership has spanned almost 60-years and the DBS GT Zagato employs many of the iconic features that define the second-half of the collection, namely the DB4 GT Zagato. The double-bubble roof, muscular rear arches and smooth rear roofline all echo the original’s timeless design in a thoroughly modern way.






Speaking of the DBZ Zagato Collection, Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Lagonda’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, added: “In the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation we have one of the world’s most beautiful and instantly recognisable pieces of car design. Creating a car fit to stand alongside it was always going to be a formidable challenge, but also a great motivation. Both design teams at Aston Martin and Zagato have together risen to the task magnificently; taking the already fabulous DBS Superleggera and shaping something which retains its identity as an Aston Martin but expresses itself as only a Zagato can. Sensational-looking and extremely rare, it is the modern incarnation of a timeless icon.”




These two Zagato models will be paired together in a run of only 19 units each. The DBS GT Zagato will be available only as part of this DBZ Centenary Collection, which is priced at £6-million ($7.9-million) excluding taxes. That will make it the rarest of all modern-era Zagatos. Deliveries will begin in the fourth-quarter of 2019 for the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation models while customers will have to wait until the end of next year for their DBS GT Zagato to arrive.
