The deconstructed 1963 Jaguar E-type Series 1 3.8 roadster is to go under the hammer with an estimated price tag of £35,000 to £45,000. The collection of original parts has been stored for over 20 years and is advertised as a ‘complete restoration project’ (listed as ‘only 98% complete’).
It is another E-type that is expected to command the highest price in the auction. A fully-restored 1962 Series 1 fixed-head coupe which has featured in TV’sTop Gear carries a £130,000 to £150,000 estimate.
Also included is what is thought to be the first Frisky Prince ever to come to market. The 1961 example is one of just two known to exist, the other based in the US. It was in storage between 1963 and 2013, but was returned to the road after its original owner passed away. It is expected to sell for £13,000.
A further £5000 is expected to land a 1989 Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI. It has covered 21,000 miles since new with one lady owner. The estimate is £18,000-£22,000.
Three 1:8 scale models are also set to go under the hammer: the ‘Star of India’. A 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Torpedo Thrupp and Maberly-bodied open tourer built for the Maharaja of Raikot; a model of the James Bond Aston Martin DB5, complete with ejector seat; and a model of a 1935 Mercedes-Benz 500K, with leather seats, working rear brakes and steering and a turning crankshaft. Each carries an estimate of £650-£750.
The sale is set for December 12 at Sandown Park.
