Believe it or not, the Suburban is a film veteran, having appeared in more than 1,750 films since 1952, and in more than 30 award-nominated films. The Tahoe has also appeared in at least one film or TV production every year since 1995. Take that, Brad Pitt.



They’ve played everything from ambulances to police wagons to armored military carriers, from bit parts in the background to starring roles for both heroes and villains. These days, their presence is usually played large in the superhero and action films that have been hugely popular in the last decade. “When a convoy of black Suburbans appears on screen,” says Dennis McCarthy, Hollywood picture car coordinator, “you know that’s not the time to leave your seat to buy popcorn.”
While this is an honor forChevrolet , it comes at a cost: recipients of a Hollywood star must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the Walk, $40,000 for the production and upkeep of the award. Rana Ghadban, president and CEO of the Chamber, declined to mention whether or not GM had paid for the star.
