Famous Hollywood Cars Will Parade Around Los Angeles On President's Day

A parade of iconic Hollywood film cars, led by President Dwight D. Eisenhower's Chrysler Imperial Parade Phaeton, is to wind its way around Los Angeles on President’s Day, February 18, 2019. It's an initiative by the Petersen Automotive Museum as a thank you to the people of Los Angeles for their support for the museum over the past 25 years. The parade will include: the 1951 Chrysler Camera Car (below) once owned by billionaire movie mogul Howard Hughes; the Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus from the 2006 comedy-drama “Little Miss Sunshine”; the 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible from the second instalment of the Austin Powers “The Spy Who Shagged Me”; the 2002 Jaguar XK-R Stunt Car from the 2002 James Bond “Die Another Day”; and the Honda S2000 from “2 Fast 2 Furious”.




The parade begins at 10am in Playa Vista and pass by The Santa Monica Pier, Rodeo Drive and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It will include a 20-minute stop at Abbott Kinney Boulevard in Venice–the perfect photo opportunity–and will return to the Petersen at around 1pm. After that, the cars will be displayed on the third floor of the museum parking garage. The full route is shown on the Petersen website.

Karges. “For 25 years, we have strived as an organization to captivate the hearts of Angelenos, igniting within them a passion for the automobile. Because Hollywood is such an important aspect of our community, the parade will serve as a fun tribute to the industry on which Los Angeles was built upon.”
