The hillclimb on Austria’s highest mountain (12,460 ft.) was organized only three times before WWII put it on hold till 2012, when a group of enthusiasts inspired by the race’s brief yet legendary history brought it back to life.
I was there to capture the 7th running of the revised Grossglockner Grand Prix, and the heroic performance of old machines on the 92 curves and 14 hairpins on the 9 mile pass. Gradients? Between 4 and 11.5%. As you can see, it was a spectacle to behold.
