Petrolicious Talks Episode 3: Automotive Designer, Fabrizio Giugiaro
Welcome to another episode of Petrolicious Talks, a podcast series with a simple but fulfilling mission: to bring you inspiring stories, deep-dive conversations, and insights into the future of motoring from the greatest minds and most passionate enthusiasts in our community.

For our third episode—which can be streamed above, as well as on our YouTube channel here—Petrolicious founder and CEO Afshin Behnia is joined by the multitalented automotive designer, industrial designer, and architect, Fabrizio Giugiaro.

To get Fabrizio’s insight into the challenges and triumphs that he’s experienced personally or has observed in the industry—his take on electric cars is particularly interesting—give this episode of Petrolicious Talks a listen while you follow along with this visual companion article, which illustrates the design projects in the order they are discussed.

BMW M1

Working in various fields of industrial and concept design for more than three decades and counting, the summation of Fabrizio’s creations within the automotive would never fit into an hour-long podcast, but the conversation touches on the important milestones and diversity of work that Fabrizio, his father, and their companies have produced over the decades. We think this selection demonstrates a degree of open-mindedness that is rare even among creatives.

Italdesign Lucciola and Daewoo Matiz

Fiat Panda

Growing up and spending ample time in the offices and studios of a legendary designer like Giorgetto Giugiaro—Fabrizio’s father and business partner—Fabrizio probably had no choice but to develop a keen sense for aesthetics whether he liked it or not, but he has taken this gift and truly run with it, building his own legacy with designs that range from the futuristic BMW Nazca concept and the Lamborghini Gallardo to more humble but no less thoughtful projects like the Italdesign Lucciola and the Daewoo Matiz—to say nothing of his certifiably “hyper" SUVs, or redesigning multi-thousand-horsepower championship-winning speed boats.
