As improbable as it may sound, over five racing rounds in 1993, Jaguar supported a made-for-ESPN racing series called Fast Masters, complete with older racing drivers in identical XJ220s who battled on a small road course formed at the 5/8-mile Indianapolis Raceway Park banked oval—not at the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

There was even a mascot, “Jasper the Fast Master”. Qualifying laps were accompanied by snazzy graphics, and the whole thing was set up as a multi-heat showdown.

Now, thanks to the wonders of YouTube, you can look back on Fast Masters and consider: just where are these cars? Turns out, they were likely returned to the UK and upgraded to XJ220 “S” specification.

I guess that means we can watch these often cringe-worthy clips, safe in the knowledge the cars were later upgraded and made whole again.
