A few days ago we all saw the first clip released by Singer of testing a motor with Williams. Today they've added another short teaser in place of the one taken down, and this time we're getting some sound inside the car as well to better enjoy that angelically violent noise from both perspectives. If you're a fan of air-cooled 911s, you're probably at least interested in the detail-laden high-performance reimagined 911s restored by Singer Vehicle Design. They've been doing their thing for a few years now, but interest in their work hasn't waned in the slightest, and it isn't likely to any time soon, what with this video showing a 934/RSR-inspired wide-body wrapped around the air-cooled flat-six.If you recall the announcement of the 4.0-liter flat-six a few months ago , you were probably as eager as we were to have any more information on how it would perform.
With Williams working on the development of the 964-based six, along with input from one of Porsches own motor maestros, Hans Mezger, it's likely not going to be far from perfect as far as naturally-aspirated performance air-cooled motors go (talk is of 500 horsepower and redlining near 9,000rpm, and you can read more about the enginehere ). We still can't really see it besides the old renderings included up top, but earlier today Singer tweeted a new clip of some engine testing with Williams, so we at least know how it might sound from inside and outside whichever car it ends up in. And it sounds like being trackside at IMSA in the '70s. Whatever the end result may be, it's safe to say it will spawn a new crop of imitators, but surely hold onto the high watermark it's soon to set. Get ready for the paradigm to shift again.
