If the kind of artwork we're talking about is automotive, Porsche is a great example. Few marques have been portrayed as prolifically, so it would be correct to assume that there are some really high-quality pieces mixed in with an abundance of junk. Car Bone's artwork falls into the former camp, and the latest additions to our shop from our Polish Porschephile friends adds to their track record of uniquely-rendered P-cars.
For this series, they've focused three distinct pieces on one of the Internet's most well-known 930s—if you've poked around for Porsches on Instagram you'll probably be familiar with Tom Williams' "Paddington OTLW," a modified Turbo Carrera that was once part of Magnus Walker's collection. In Car Bone's triptych-like set pictured here, they've opted for a cropped and stylized look rather than something more pedestrian like a standard side-or-head-on view.
The prominent haunches of the first wide body production Porsche are accentuated by the perspectives, but also in the way the surfaces of the car have been recreated in a shadow-laden flow of lines and curves rather than solid planes. The choice to use a high-contrast monochrome palette also hints at the binary nature of a 930—from stable to sideways in instants. In summary, they've managed to touch upon the major elements of the 930 without being heavy-handed or derivative. No easy task.
