Lovely video, the leap from jewellery making to restoring cars is an inspiration to anyone who has a skill to have a go – in this case clearly the level of skill was well up to the job.

I second Mr Gauthier’s opinion that perhaps the car isn’t one to do the whole 1000 miles in – from the in car shots it sounds like you could spend a whole lot of time willing the car on but somehow never manage to get it out if second gear before the next incline! Nevertheless well worth the effort to preserve it.

This is a lovely video about what is possible in a restoration, if you do not get all precious of the provenance of what you are doing, and see the medium of your materials as metal, rubber and paint. Gauthier’s private museum is in Scottsdale, and is a by appointment, by special arrangement. or by rental kind of thing. Scott Gauthier calls his collection the G Collection. The website is here: http://www.gcollectioncars.com/ His focus on post-war, small displacement Italian coupes is arguably unique in the Americas.

There is so much more to the value of a car than just money. Car and owner are sharing invaluable times together. Perfect.

Wow, that is one of the cutest cars I’ve ever seen! An amazing little car!! I simply wish that we can have cars like that today – lean, light, small, pretty, simple, minimal, and with spirit.

To me, this film, is more about the owner`s words and attitude, than about the car – small Fiats just don´t work for me (and neither bigger ones…)

Still, only 1 left in the world, and he drives it on a daily basis, and judging by the sound, pushing those revs up …

How many collectors would do this?!

As he says, “it´s just metal”… What a nice and simple perspective.
