This Is How You Live Life As A Bentley Boy
What’s up with the music in the last few films? While very nice, the mixing has been toning down the vocals of the speaker and the car so they can be barely heard over the score. The balance has tipped a little too far. Would like to have heard more of the story and more about the car, too.
Of course, they’re still gorgeous!
Even though I’ll never get to own one of those beautiful classic Bentleys,
I’ve considered myself as a Bentley Boy when I got my Matchbox 4.5 liter blower Bentley many years ago. Reading about them racing at LeMans in the late 20s & early 30s, made me wish to travel back in time to experience those epic duels . A true symphony from the throaty exhaust to mechanical sound of the engine to the gearbox whine. Thank you for a great video !!!
Does anyone know what the last score was? It was absolutely stunning. I think it might have been a Philip Glass piece, but I don’t know which one. I’m dying to know.
I always love Petrolicious’s videos. I’ve found that there are so many cars that I’ve discovered my love for as a result of these videos. I’ll add pre-war Bentley’s to my list of must-have’s when I grow up.
Really nicely shot film. And the sound reproduction is sensational, too. You really get the rasp of the exhaust note from this big ol’ girl and a vivid sense that she loves every moment of it.
Frankly, I’m yet to watch a Petrolicious film that I didn’t like – even about cars that I am not a fan of.

Loved the part when he says “I’m not there yet” – really humble and honest – and this coming from someone, who probably already has more knowledge about cars and Bentleys, than most so-called “connoisseurs” will have in their entire life!
Btw, probably one of the few times were a (jazzy feel) drum solo as part of the soundtrack, doesn´t sound out of place!
Although I have enjoyed just about all the Petrolicious productions I think this one is a watershed.
This piece has a true cinematic scope, edgy dynamic tension, and is appropriately scored, and colored; well done! Even the technical “flaws” are immodest but not contrived.
I hate to sound like a snotty art snob but it is difficult to praise this piece accurately without donning the required black turtleneck and smug countenance.

What lovely videography. And what a profoundly, knowledgeable and experienced man. I really love the breadth of this video series. The car world is littered with poseurs, and then there are engineers-artisans like Medcalf who think nothing, particularly, of changing out a differential with hand tools in the middle of the Gobi desert, than driving 66 hours non-stop, to catch up with their rally. And Medcalf is humble enough about his achievements to tell us, that in terms of understanding these cars completely, he is “not there yet.”
