Any excuse to take out “the fun car” is a good one, and we love the idea of a day trip turning into a full weekend of driving with friends, so interesting road rallies are always on our radar. These can take the form of snow-covered forays into the French or Italian Alps, or they can carry us along the coastline of California under bright sun and a clear dome of blue sky—some have been part of decades-old traditions while others are just starting up. One such event that falls into the latter group is coming up on the west coast this May, and the unique “California Adventure” will see two separate starting points and plenty of luxury amenities along each route (the northern group, starting at Canepa Motorsports, will converge with the southern group, starting at the Petersen Automotive Museum, in Santa Barbara wine country). Photos from last year’s rallies in California and the southeastern United States are included.
The event is hosted and put on by Drive Toward a Cure, a charitable organization dedicated to fighting Parkinson’s Disease, so in addition to driving on excellent roads, eating great food, staying in resorts like the Alisal Guest Ranch, and making new friends, participants will be doing it all for a great cause.
