Here in SoCal we have extraordinary industrial artisans, but it is one shop for the paint; other for the trimmer & upholstery; a third for the engines; yet another for the drive line, and someone else for the tuning. People like Chip Foose will coordinate all of this for clients who want a turn key package with bespoke bodywork, but Foose works on all kinds of projects. The depth of model specific technical knowledge that Rob Dickinson has assembled for the 911 is exceptional.
Fun car. And that corner of Pennsylvania is a lovely region for road trips. The Singers I have seen are unassuming cars. They are built less than 20 miles from here, so they are around. You might see them up in the San Gabriel Mountains, certainly at the Luftgekuhlt show, and over at the Petersen Museum. And you think: “This one is different” and then you notice the signature rear view mirrors or another detail specific to Singer. I think that is part of the appeal. They are so discrete for what they are.
