The Petrolicious Holiday Gift Guide, Part 1: Apparel, Accessories, Shoes, Watches
The full selection of items for our Holiday gift guide can be browsed here
Holiday shopping is stressful, and that can make something that should feel good feel like a chore—sitting in traffic at the mall entrance ramp and then wedging into the only available spot, which, of course, is next to a minivan parked over the line and with scratches and evidence of children all over it, trying to be thoughtful in picking out the right gift amidst the din of human traffic that used to be the honking parking lot traffic, all the while listening to the same awful renditions of “Deck the Halls” and the perennially creepy “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” before capping it off with the classic mistake of forgetting the wrapping paper, the card, the bow, the wreath, whatever it is that ensures your day of “getting it all done at once” never goes according to plan. All the worse if you’ve waited to the point where the shelves are getting sparse and your fellow procrastinators are getting rabid for the few palatable options left.
Of course, there’s no need for that if you have an Internet connection, but getting mired in Amazon reviews and trying to wrap your head around the fact that people are capable of writing five-paragraph persuasive essays on why you should avoid buying something as innocuous as Duracell batteries has its own pitfalls.
Some things are unavoidable, but if you’re buying for any petrolheads this year—this includes self-gifting/presents for the car—we will try to streamline the process as much as we can for you, and we promise to never ask you to sign up some crappy credit card at the register. Today’s gift guide is focused on wearables (shirts, shoes, watches, sunglasses, accessories), and we have options for men, women, and children alike. Tomorrow we will complete the guide with the second part: books, artwork, and models.
T-Shirts
We love a nice comfortable T-shirt, and our collection of Petrolicious Originals like the national racing heritage line add subtle graphics and logos to let others know where your motoring interests lie, without shouting it in Arial block font and aggressive colors. For the person on your list that drives tastefully, perfect to wear to Cars & Coffee or while hunting down that rare NLA part for hours on the forums. We also stock
We also stock shirts from other brands we love, like Curb and their Manual Gearbox Preservation Society.
Petrolicious Hats
In case you missed it, we’ve finally released our first official Petrolicious hats, which are currently available in two styles: the dark blue “Motto” and ivory “Logo.” Full of custom details down to the inner stitching and strap clasp, we tested countless of these before we found the right fit and quality to bear our name. More details here.
The Outlierman and Autodromo Driving Gloves
Know somebody who drives enthusiastically and appreciates high-quality goods? We carry a selection of full leather and string-back driving gloves from both Autodromo and The Outlierman. Not just a fashionable complement to any classic dashboard, a nice set of gloves can transform the driving experience and provide more assurance than you may have thought possible, especially on wooden steering wheels.
Autodromo Watches
Chronographs and driving have a long history, and brands like Autodromo are continuing this relationship with a modern line of timepieces that embody and evolve the classic chrono styling of the iconic watches of the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. These are products that can only be born from a true dedication to horology and vintage motorsport, for getting into the watch game from scratch—and creating totally unique pieces at that—is no easy nor lucky feat. Know somebody who’s bummed they couldn’t afford the $17.8M Newman Daytona? These are the perfect salve.
Berenford Sunglasses
Another retro-inspired line of high-quality products is the collection of sunglasses from Berenford. Inspired by the jet-set Euro playboy scene and the gentleman driver alike, these frames are reimagined designs from the past that give a slightly modern spin on some timeless looks. Offered in a variety of styles, colors, and patterns, they’re equally suited to a day on the French Riviera or a sunny day’s drive to the shop in any other part of the world.
Handmade Italian goods by The Outlierman
If you’re looking for the complete kit, the “Dress Tastefully” kit if you will, The Outlierman has you covered, literally, with handcrafted leather and silk goods from Italy. Bags, scarves, neckties, you name it, they have it. For discerning car enthusiasts that know their way around a double Windsor as well as a Weber carburetor.
Piloti Shoes
Know someone with holes in their Converse right where the heel-toe sweet spot is? A pair of Piloti driving shoes can elevate the in-car experience tremendously, though few people are aware of just how much they are missing out on without the proper driving footwear. Sure, everyone has their preferences, and for a few of them maybe docksiders are the ideal fit, but Piloti has been in this gig for a while now, and if they know how to craft a shoe fit for racing drivers they are clearly offering some kind of benefit. We carry a wide range of styles from Piloti in our shop, from loafers that wouldn’t appear out of place at the office to the kind of race boots you associate with the name.
Key Chains and Stickers
Everyone loves a stocking stuffer, especially something small but significant. A Petrolicious sticker pack or die-cut motto decal for instance, or a how about a high-end leather key chain from Raidillon. These are the things that become part of the daily routine, but break up its monotony with a reminder of where the true interest lies.
