The Land Rover Series III Is Equipped For Adventure

On any given day, Pav can be found shooting anything from a 1932 Daimler Double-Six in one corner of the United States to a Jaguar D-Type on the opposite side of the continent. If he’s at home in California, however, odds are you’ll find Pav in the seat of a ride defined by its simplicity: his 1973 Land Rover Series III.

When Mr. Paul Cressey hits the track at Laguna Seca for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (aka The Monterey Historics) in his 1959 Peerless GT, he faces plenty of tough competition. For Paul, however, that competition is especially personal, including as it does his father, Ron, who is known for running his own 1959 Corvette in the same race.
The Ferrari 330 P4 Is One Sexy Beast
Play
As much as any other car, the Ferrari 330 P4 is the embodiment and culmination of an entire era of racing. With its low-slung stance and voluptuous lines, it is also among the most visually stunning cars ever produced. Combine these factors and the word “icon” slips to the tip of one’s tongue.
Son Takes Chrysler New Yorker Rally Car To The Next Stage
Play
After some searching for a rally car, Jake Auerbach and his father settled upon a 1951 Chrysler New Yorker, a car which had previously run the famed La Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico and the Pike's Peak Hill Climb in Colorado. They began adding their own miles to the car's odomoeter, running the New York-to-Vancouver leg of the Trans-America Challenge in 2012 in addition to numerous other events. This father-and-son team covered more than 10,000 competition miles together.. They never, however, managed to win any of the events they entered together. In 2012, Jonathan Auerbach died at the age of 70. Shortly after, Jake entered the first rally he'd ever run without his dad. He won.

“You could draw it in three lines, man . . .” That and the tire on the hood, all you need.

it’s not a truck, it is a truck.. no it’ not. what a f-ck’n waste of brain power. Word truck was a spin-off of the word rucksack.. you load it,and it becomes a truck. It’s simple . Keep life simple, have a good time, don’t have to always be correct ..

I clicked on this video because I was trying to get my speakers working and it was ‘just a truck video’ (sorry, a Landy video!)! Well, I got the speakers going and had to watch the video over again! Petrolicious is simply the best! Thanks for bringing another great story to all of us! Love it.

Its not a truck, its a Landie. As for the silly term SUV, again Landies are not SUVs.

Maybe its a US thing to call it a truck. Regardless of this, yes Landies are fun to drive.

I love Land Rover! Every time I see one of them Series 2 or Series 3 on the road, which is actually pretty rare, I tear a little with excitement. I need something to haul stuff around, surely, so this will be my excuse for getting one of those. Except…they are really pricy these days.

Ian,

It is certainly debatable. The term “SUV” was popularized in the late 80’s early 1990’s. While it would be appropriate to call it a, ‘Ute’ a ‘4×4’ or a ‘4WD’ or ‘Offroad Vehicle’ Petrolicious is a US based site and the nomenclature around ‘Truck’ certainly feels applicable to this ‘rig’.

As I have understood it, Americans call every vehicle with a separate chassis a ‘truck’. But then, they call a bonnet hood, aluminium aluminum etc…. So basically they speak a different language.

This so makes me miss my ’62 Series II. My wife has never forgiven me for selling it. We had many adventures in it when my children were small and we lived in a remote part of the world. Simple vehicles that could be repaired on the side of a trail with a minimum of tools and ability.

This was a very good video from Petrolicious. I really loved the parts when the land rover was tackling the sand and the water. It was nice to see such a vehicle in the terrain it was meant for. Keep them coming!
