Accidental Alfas: Mike Merritt's 1971 Giulia Super

by Kris Clewell -

There was a plan. A 1971 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super, prepped and rebuilt for the Targa Newfoundland. Fuel cell, fire suppression, the whole deal. Mike Merritt drove it home from Ohio instead, and that drive killed every intention he had for the car except one. Keep it.

He had another one within 30 days. Then his friends started showing up with Giulias of their own. Now they run them through the Connecticut hills together, a small fleet of the same car that somehow all ended up different. That's what happens with vintage Alfas. They demand so much constant attention that every one becomes its own thing.
