Where battleships were once built, Kindred works among the echoes. The Mare Island shipyard still holds the scale of what it once did. The cranes, the steel, the sense that what happened here mattered. That history is not diminished by what happens now. It is a different kind of making. The noise is smaller, the pace less frantic, but the rhythm is familiar. Frames and bodies sit open to the air, stripped and measured, then built back to go again. The work is slower, more deliberate, but it shares one truth with the past.
